East

This branch is fairly big for a branch library and has a nice children's section. They have a toy table where they cycle through different kinds of toys. There is a puzzle table with various difficulty levels of puzzles. They have 4 computers for kids to use with various games. The children's section is not separated from the rest of the library, but it is at the back of the library which makes it feel set apart.

They have shelves for the kits which contain books and toys based on themes. They also have backpacks with 10 books in each bag geared toward children who have not yet reached kindergarten. The Arlington libraries encourage patrons to participate in the 1000 books before Kindergarten program to help prepare kids to enter school. The board books are located in bins at the back of the children's section near the play rugs.

The stereotype of libraries being a quiet place is also outdated. Children are welcome to talk and have fun in the children's section at libraries!

The library also have several meeting rooms that can be reserved with various equipment available in the rooms. This branch also has a 3D printer that they use for programs.

There are a few programs for children throughout the week. You can check the programming schedule for this branch at this link. *The library takes a programming break in the months of May, June, and December so there are normally few programs offered these months* There are several of their programs in the calendar under events. The summer reading program is also a great way to get kids excited about reading.
