Elmer W. Oliver

Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park is a lovely park to enjoy nature. There are not any playground structures, but there is plenty to keep kids engaged. This park feels like you've left the city. There are lots of gravel trails to explore around the park. There are plans for a paved trail on the edge of the park for bikes, but it has not been started yet. There are ponds, some you can fish in if you have a license. There is a "treehouse" that gives you a view of Walnut Creek from above. There is a multitude of wildflowers, bluebonnets in particular, during the spring. There are a couple of bird blinds to observe the birds undetected. The rocky ford overlook is an area where you can see the river flow through the rocks. The Walnut Creek Trail connects through the park, however the connecting bridge is closed and you can read the statement of why here

Mansfield Parks and Rec has done a fantastic job creating and maintaining this park for guests to enjoy. There are lots of interactive stations throughout the park with descriptions of what you are seeing and QR codes to scan and find out more. They even have a scavenger hunt with a prize you can participate in if you click here and then click on interactive activities. Programs are often hosted at the park that you can find on this calendar.

There is a restroom at the park entrance along with a water fountain. There are also composting toilets inside the park, but be aware that they were down for maintenance.
